National meeting held to mark March 8 International Women's Day
  A national meeting was held at the People's Palace of Culture in Pyongyang on the 8th to commemorate the 115th anniversary of the March 8 International Women's Day.
  Present at the meeting were Choe Ryong Hae, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and First Vice-Chairman of the State Affairs Commission and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and other leading officials of the Party and the government, officials of the Central Committee of the Socialist Women’s Union of Korea, exemplary women officials, labour innovators and union members in the city of Pyongyang.
  Present on the occasion were women of diplomatic missions in the DPRK.

  Upon authorization of the Party Central Committee and the government of the Republic, he extended warm congratulations to women innovators and meritorious women who perform distinguished exploits at their revolutionary posts and the entire mothers and other women across the country who devote themselves for their children and prosperity of the harmonious socialist family.
  He also extended greetings and firm solidarity to the overseas Korean women fully displaying ardent patriotism for the prosperity of the socialist homeland with the pride and honour of being the overseas Koreans of the dignified Republic and the progressive women of the world, international women's movement organizations, women's organizations and friends of different countries and regions in their struggle for realizing independence, peace and international justice.
  He said the March 8 is a significant holiday wishing honor and happiness of the women, who devote themselves for the society, family and rising generations. He noted that the position of the women increases more and more in all fields of socialist construction along with the new era of overall development of the country and their long-cherished desire for civilized and happy life is realized.
  He said the government of the Republic will do all it can to constantly raise the position and role of women in building a powerful country and provide them with happier and more civilized life. He affirmed that our cause will be crowned with victory thanks to the reliable and proud women who demonstrate ennobling spirit and mettle with a heavy sense of duty for their families, society and rising generations.
