Devoted Service for the People
There are many medical workers in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, who are faithful to their jobs regarding devoted service as their duty.
Hong Il Ok, Doctor of the Ryugyong General Ophthalmic Hospital, invented over 20 methods of curing obstinate eye diseases and introduced them into operations during her 18-year career, making a contribution to restoring sight to many children.
In those days, she performed more than 1,500 operations.

Now she has mastered almost all ophthalmic operations, but she always shows all sincerity to the treatment of the patients with the attitude she had toward her first operation. That's why lots of people respect and follow her.
Jong Kwang, Section Chief of Choe Kyong Thae Endocrine Institute, made an active contribution to the public health practice by developing a medicine for metabolic disease on the basis of his own technology.

He has worked as a public health worker for only over ten years. However, he has researched and introduced dozens of advanced diagnosis and treatment methods with his extraordinary spirit of inquiry and high ability, resuscitating more than 1,000 serious and emergency cases during the past top-level emergency anti-epidemic period.
The Phyongchon District Hospital is one of those units going ahead of others in the improvement of treatment conditions and environment across the country.
It is associated with the efforts of Director Jong Mi Ok who has led the masses with her high qualifications and practice from the viewpoint that the treatment of patients is unthinkable apart from the love and devotion for man and the practical ability.

During her 10-odd-year career as the director, she has not only studied and introduced new treatment methods effective for different systems but further improved the qualifications of the medical workers of the hospital and turned it wonderfully as befitting the medical service centre of the district.
A lot of other medical workers across the country are achieving many successes in the public health care in the spirit of true service to the people, thus contributing to the improvement of the people's health.
