Road of Building a Rich Country with a Strong Army

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea has blazed the trail of building a rich country with a strong army in an original way while holding fast to the independent stand and firmly defending its ideology and social system for tens of years.
It is unthinkable apart from the exploits of the great leaders Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il who founded the DPRK and strengthened and developed it into an invincible country with independent national economy and self-defence capabilities.
The 1990s was the harsh period when the destiny of socialism was at the crossroads of life and death.
Socialism collapsed one after another in different countries and the imperialists intensified their moves to isolate and stifle the DPRK as never before, taking mean advantage of the demise of Kim Il Sung.
In those trying years, Kim Jong Il firmly defended socialism and provided a reliable springboard for building a powerful country with his original Songun (military-first) politics.
On January 1, Juche 84(1995), he inspected a company of the Korean People's Army.
His inspection was a historic event which heralded all over the world that his politics is the one of attaching importance to military affairs and strengthening the People's Army before anything else.

From the historic day, Kim Jong Il continued his Songun-based leadership, visiting front-line posts at which the enemy were levelling their guns constantly and taking the road on a sharp-cut cliff of Mt. Osong by pushing his sliding car.
Thanks to him who devoted all his soul for the country, the DPRK could be firmly defended and changes made in all fields of the socialist construction.
Artificial earth satellites were launched with success by completely relying on our strength and technology and model factories conducive to the improvement of the people's living built across the country.
Hundreds of thousand hectares of land were realigned and large-scale gravitational waterways and cultural recreation resorts for the people built.
The solid foundations of independence, self-sufficiency and self-reliant defence laid by Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il have been more firmly consolidated under the wise leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, ushering in a heyday of building a rich country with a strong army in the DPRK.
